The job story is a classic tell: deployed soldier, offshore engineer, doctor with an international agency — occupations with a built-in reason you can never meet.

Future promises inflate. Marriage, moving, "a ticket to come see you" — before you have ever met. This stage fills the emotional account to prepare for the coming withdrawal.
